Pictures

I hope that I can get the pictures of Crimea up.
Crimea

What and interesting place to visit. We were able to visit four cities and look at medical facilities there. Simferopol,Sevastopol,Yevparitaeoria,Yalta. All have history that fill way too many books. The Black Sea and the Russian warm water fleet, the beautiful Xaram to the birthplace of Mary and the Greek ruins that surround it were all so enchanting. You just feel like you are on this strange and yet exciting tour of the world and are trying to soak up as much as you can. I find my self walking along taking way to many pictures of the most ordinary things but because I am where I am they are exotic and beautiful . Crazy I know but what can I say.
Lena Sheekht was our interpreter and she really was fun to hang out with. She is a resident Dr. with 3 weeks to go before sitting for her final exams. She is 24 years old and she is light hearted and fun. She knew what questions to ask about the hospitals and could see for her self if the facilities were good enough for the missionaries.
Yalta, we looked at a potential Humanitarian project for Elder and Sister Miner, who are the Humanitarian couple in Ukraine. It looks like a worth cause.
It is a program for the physically disabled to get a college degree and become employed. They can house up to 20 students at one time but there is no funding for meals, or for hot water. thus they are looking for help to remodel a bathroom and to get a boiler installed.
On to Lividia Place where the Yalta Accord was signed by Roosevelt. Churchill, and that other guy. I say that other guy because I don't want to even dignify mentioning him because of what he did to Ukrainians after the war was "ended". Soo.. great to be there and see all that took place there. It was a place for Tsar Nicoli and Alexandra and their family. There is a small museum about them on the second floor.
We love you so much and pray all is well. Hugs from Ukraine.

General Conference

Hello!

What a wonderful week. We had two Zone conferences and then General Conference. We have been feasting on the gospel of Jesus Christ and we are stuffed!!
How I love feeling the tremendous love of God as his servants speak to us. It is the most wondrous feeling after hearing Elder Holland speak knowing just the amount of effort each speaker gives to preparing their talk.Knowing the their pleas to the Father to have His spirit as they prepare can be felt as we listen to them. I really appreciated Elder Paul V. Johnson about Pain and adversity. I am loved. I realized that my accident was what I needed to soften my heart and to turn my soul to Christ. I still have to work on anger and patience and loving with my whole heart and not holding back. So growth is sometimes a very uncomfortable experience. Sam and Kristen You have to be the most loved people on the planet. You are dealing with your struggles with grace and patience. You are wonderful examples of followers of Christ.Didn't Elder Scott's talk just make you cry. I am going to better about loving my Ralphie. I have done the love notes in his pockets for years but not recently. I pray for him vocally when we have difficult things going on but am I loving all the time? No. How do you become meek and submissive and hold on to your identity? And why is that so important? If your heart, might, mind and strength is focused on doing things the Lords way then it is the Lord that matters and his example is how things are done. I may get there some day right now I am still and Ephraimite. AN OX !

We are well and are looking foreword to going to Bulgaria and the Baltic countries the end of the month. We will be going with the Parks and the Humpherys, two other missionary couples. The Parks to renew their visas and the Humpherys to do PR training.

Thank you so much for the letters and e-mail. It means so much to have mail, either kind is fine. Dave and Maren get gold stars. Steve you do too. It was really nice to talk to many of you on Skype and Magic Jack. I love you all so much. Hold to the ROD and do it with both hands.

Do You See What I See?

Here I am just getting ready for bed and I am thinking of all of you. I was able to Skype Brent and Henry tonight and it was so wonderful to see Brent playing with his son. Autumn was down stairs working. I have been able to talk with Mom and Jamie, Scott , Maren this week also. Kev and Kate we would love to be able to skype you also. Let us know what would be a good time.
Aaron Ames is coming to Kyiv on Sunday and we are excited to see him and to meet his fiance. It will be fun to show them Kyiv. We won't show them because we still don't know how to navigate the city above ground that well but we know people who do.:)

Hugs every one. I love you so much. Keep Faith and love eachother.

Week14

I guess that you all have had a great time together during this Conference break. It was so fun to be able to participate in the balloon launch for Dad's birthday. Thank you Brent and Autumn for making that happen.

We have had the best week and we know that most of you get our letter so I won't repeat every thing. Just so you know that the people here are amazing and that we love them so much.

I love SKYPE! It is a great tool and I love using it. It has been wonderful to skype Mom and to be able to talk with her. Sam and Matt I would love to add you to my Skype account, Dee Daw too.

Today was sunny and bright in the afternoon. We walked to Billa for groceries and then had a lovely dinner. We studied our Ukrainian and Russian and did all of our data entry for the medical web sight for the mission. We seem to keep very busy and we are so happy doing what we are doing.

Congratulations to Scott, and Brooke Wellborn. They became engaged on April 1, 2011.
A huge shout out to Elder Steven Mayberry, now a district leader in the Oregon Portland Mission. WE received a lovely letter form Pres. Dyches letting us know of the change in Elder Steve's life.

week 10

Dear Family,
So, Here we are in the most exciting place on the planet next to Japan. Our excitement is from the growth and the blessings of the spirit of God.I am so excited to tell you about Zone Conference with President and Sister Lawrence. Pres. Steinagel was a bit subdued but he still got the missionaries to commit to getting 4 or more commitments for baptism form Tues. to Sunday. Pres. and Sister Lawrence helped by getting these great Elders and Sisters to sing,"The Lord needs valiant servant to do his work in the latter days. To follow the teachings of Jesus and serve his people in a loving way.
I will be his servant I'll gather Israel faithfully, I'll pray for 4 or even more, the Lord can depend on me. It was so cool to hear them sing this 5 times. Each time they got stronger and more believing in their commitment. I was singing right along with them and on the way home we were just looking at people and wondering who was ELECT and who would want to know just how much God loves them...

Who are you? You are a child of the covenant. Look up elect in the bible dictionary. That would be you. You are the ones who fought with Jehovah and defended Gods plan of agency. You are the ones who have been defenders of truth and righteousness before you even came to earth. That is why it rings true to you now. That is why you are honest and why you love goodness in others. We are drawn to those who desire good. I just really had such a great time being feed by these great leaders.

I invite all to come unto Christ our Savior and Redeemer. Learn of him and follow in his ways. You will find peace and true happiness. There is order in His kingdom. He expects us to follow his prophet and to obey his commandments. I testify that if we do there is just so much pure joy that we can not contain it all. We will be fainting away just like Alma the younger.

I love you all and I really miss hearing from you weekly. By Friday I am looking at email hoping for a note. Happy b-day to Lucy and Ethan .Peeps and Ben have had their days.
Love,
